It’s 1894 in Montpellier, France. Murder, missing documents, and a Norwegian named Sigerson can only mean one thing:
The Game’s Afoot!
Struggling to redefine herself after abandoning an unfulfilling musical career in America, Elizabeth Devereaux joins her French life-scientist husband, Philippe, in Montpellier, France, believing – at the very dawn of the 20th Century – it’s never too late to be what you might have been.
Tragically, reality suggests otherwise…
When Philippe hints at a “scientific and political initiative of global implications” that will depend upon Elizabeth for its successful completion – and is then killed in a mysterious carriage accident – her single-minded search for the initiative’s details is thwarted by both friend and foe.
As efforts to stop her investigations mount, ranging from stonewalling to arson to murder, Elizabeth realizes her search has placed her in grave danger and she is on her own to find answers.
Throughout it all, Elizabeth must face the fact that pursuing her life’s coda may very well be costing the lives of those she loves … and her own might be next.
